This article will help you update the status of an appointment when patients check-in, cancel or miss visits.
To perform the following procedures, open the Appointment Book.
Check-in Appointment
Right-click on an unconfirmed appointment, then select Patient Check-In.
Note: If the patient is scheduled for more than one appointment on the current day, you will be prompted with a list of all their appointments where you can choose to check them in for one, some, or all of them at once.
Change Appointment Status
To change status, right-click on an appointment, then select:
- Mark as Missed when patient is a no-show,
- Mark as Canceled when patient calls ahead of time to cancel the appointment,
- Confirm Appointment when you confirm the appointment, typically a day before.
Tip: To return the appointment to its initial state, choose Unconfirm.
Note: When configured, patients may receive email notifications for the appointments that are scheduled, moved, marked as missed, or canceled. For additional information about email notifications, see the Enable and Configure Notifications article.
Show or Hide Canceled and Missed Appointments
By default, appointments with any status appear on the appointment book. You may want to hide Canceled and Missed appointments to keep your schedule clear from clutter.
Click the [Hide canceled/missed appointments] on the toolbar on and off to hide and make the canceled and missed reappear.
