Create and Manage User Roles

This article will help you set up User Roles, which makes it faster and easier to assign privileges to user accounts. Roles grant a set of access privileges: when roles are assigned to individual user accounts, the privileges can be adjusted as necessary for the individual user.

The User Management module is located in Administration Setup. You must have the appropriate permissions to access the module.

To perform the following procedures, log in to Administration Setup and double-click the Users icon, then click [Modify Roles] on the toolbar. A list of existing Roles opens.

Add a Role

  1. Click [New Role] on the toolbar.
  2. Enter a Role name and check the box beside each privilege you want to be granted when the Role will be assigned to a user. For details on each privilege, see Available Role Privileges.
  3. Click Save and Close.

Edit a Role

  1. Double-click the Role.
  2. Check or clear the boxes to allow or deny privileges to users who are assigned to the Role.
  3. Click Save and Close.

Delete a Role

  1. Select the role you want to delete.
  2. Click [Delete Role] on the toolbar.
  3. Click Yes when prompted.

Note: Primary Privilege (highlighted in pink) must be selected in order for subsequent Privileges (highlighted in green) to work.
